Helene Carter, New Elected Member of the Board of Directors of SMART

 

We are happy to announce the election of Helene Carter to the Board of Directors of the Secondary Materials and Recycled Textiles Association (SMART). The election took place on Monday, March 4, 2019 during the SMART Annual Meeting. Helene will serve a two-year term on the Board. Congratulations Helene Carter!

About Helene Carter

As co-founder of the Bank and Vogue family of companies, Helene has been a SMART member since 2007. She is a subject matter expert on post-consumer textile waste, working closely with brands, and retailers to divert textiles from landfills. She has dedicated most of her work life to innovative and relevant solutions to the crisis of stuff.

With a background in accounting, Helene has both CGA, and CPA designations. Her vision to foresee the necessity of a more sustainable textile industry, together with her ability to manage the company finances, have been key to make Bank and Vogue group a leading wholesaler of used goods in North America, the main vintage retailer in Europe, and the world’s biggest upcycling factory for textiles re-manufacturing in India.

Since 2017, Helene is a fellow of QuantumShift™, which annually challenges forty of Canada’s most promising entrepreneurs to improve their leadership style, inspire their business partners and maximize their growth opportunities.
