Back Haul

A load that a driver is able to obtain after off-loading another load. The driver will take it “back” to another location (usually his next pick up destination).

Bags

Used to package various items such as shoes, purses/belts and smaller items – average weight is approximately 50 lbs.

Bale

A large package of used clothing tightly bound with twine or wire and often wrapped. Bales are packed in the following sizes:SMALL: 00-250 pounds, LARGE: 800-1000 pounds, EXTRA LARGE: 1000-1200 pounds.

Baler

A machine which compacts products into a cube for shipping purposes.

Bill of Lading

Itemized list of goods contained in a shipment.

Bins

A method of donation collection for charities and For Profit Recyclers.

Capsacks

The trade name for a large (4X4X4), flexible, seal-able sack. A large packaging and storage bag usually used for shoes and hard toys. capsacks can also be used to package metal ware, bric brac, purses and belts. We supply capsacks to sellers. Contact us for more information.

Cargo

Also referred to as load, shipment, payload. It is the material that is being transported in a shipping vehicle.

Carrier

An individual, partnership or corporation engaged in the business of transporting goods.

Charity

A type of non-profit organization formed for charitable purposes

Collection method

The method with which sellers collect used goods

Consignee

In a contract of carriage, the consignee is the person to whom the shipment is to be delivered whether by land, sea or air.

Container

Bank & Vogue ships in 40′HC (High Cube) sea containers. Containers will arrive on a truck and can be loaded and unloaded from a loading dock at a height similar to a regular 53′ trailer.

Container Number

The number identifying a particular shipping container.

Credential

These are untouched donated goods in the exact same condition as it was when donated.

Credit

Customs

The official department that administers and collects the duties levied by a government on imported goods.

Customs Broker

Customs broker is a profession that involves the “clearing” of goods through customs barriers for importers and exporters. This involves the preparation of documents and/or electronic submissions, the calculation and payment of taxes, duties and excises, and facilitating communication between government authorities and importers and exporters.

Detention Charge

A Charge to the party responsible for a truck not vacating the property at a scheduled time.

Domestic

A shipment that will remain in the country of origin.

Donations

A gift given by physical or legal persons, typically for charitable purposes and/or to benefit a cause.

Drop Trailer

A trailer or container which will remain stationary for longer than 24 hours for the purposes of loading and unloading.

Dry Run

Operating a truck without cargo.

A shipment that the final destination will not be the country of origin.

Exworks

A term used to describe a situation where the client is responsible for the expenses and logistics of securing freight.
